PLC is an auditioned choir that welcomes people of all gender identities and sexual orientations. PLC performs eclectic music with our mission at the core by uplifting queer voices and queer community. Our concerts are a celebration of who we are whether we are performing pop music or reflecting on more serious topics of social justice and human rights.
What to Expect
The Audition
PLC is hiring a new Artistic Director starting in the Fall of 2026. The new AD will refine the audition process, but you can expect it to include:
Vocalizing to demonstrate range, intonation, and vocal quality
Demonstrating musicianship through a piece of your choosing
Other vocal and rhythmic exercises to demonstrate musical skill
The audition process is not intended to be stressful or exclusionary. We make every attempt to make our space welcoming and comfortable!
Time Commitment
We meet every Wednesday from 6:45-9:00pm from September through June with the exception of a few major holidays.
Each term also includes a Saturday retreat (which counts as two rehearsals).
Sectionals are offered as an opportunity to get more rehearsal time and make up for a rehearsal absence.
Our concerts are held in January and June each year and we are on a summer hiatus (other than outreach events like Pride) during July and August.
We memorize our music for each performance! Practice tracks and sectionals are made available to the choir as a way for members to practice outside of rehearsals. Some choralography is included with each performance. Participation is strongly encouraged. Videos are provided to help learn choralography.
Financial Commitment
PLC is committed to equity and believes that membership should not be reliant on the ability to pay. Dues are $150 per term. If $150 per term is not possible for you, you can pay what you can with no questions asked.
Choir Size
PLC has a cap of 170 members. Singer admittance is determined through auditions at the start of each season. New members are invited to sing with the choir based on available spots to create a balanced choir.
How to sign up
A New Member Information Session is held in August each year. The information session gives you more specifics about what it is like to sing with PLC and details about the upcoming season. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions. Auditions are held in late August or early September.
Complete the form below to be informed of the next opportunity to attend a New Member Information Session.
